Android Question Android Tablet to PC Serial Link

I have a tablet running Android 4.3. Is there any way and/or example for how to establish a serial link between the tablet and my Windows PC using the PC's USB port?

I did that and got the example to compile and connect to an FTDI device. However, when I connect the tablet directly to the PC's USB port, I get the error message "Error opening USB port". Should I expect the tablet to appear in Device Manager's COM Port section?

The UsbSerial solution will not work when the device is connected directly to the PC USB port.

If USB debug mode is enabled then you can create a TCP connection with ADB instead.
