Only jdk 17.0 seems to change things, but it causes the following error: "error: Source option 6 is no longer supported. Use 7 or later.".

Your choices of java sdk to work with b4A are:

Oracle Java 8 or OpenJDK 11​

jdk 17 is NOT one of those. Install ONLY what is linked to (do not seek other/later versions) and do ALL steps in the installation/set-up instructions:

Ok.
It seems that the error is caused by an outdated method of accessing files.

This is because I need access to a specific directory on the Sd-Card.

Oops, I apologize for my last message. I hadn't noticed that the sd-card had mysteriously disappeared from my tablet. This ensured that no software had access to the sd-card.
I did a sd-card access test again and I can write and read on the sd-card.
