Cui bono?
I'm no enemy of new technologies, but judging by the development of Android in recent years, this is supposed to be the technological leap?

Dear user
First buy our new devices at horrendous prices so that you can experience the new experience... You'll have forgotten the master builder of Florence Cathedral after 10 seconds anyway, but that doesn't matter. You have the information. But so do we. The overpriced Gucci handbag you saw in the shop window on the way to the cathedral through your glasses is already in your shopping basket...
Come to the restaurant in New York, we booked a flight and an overnight stay for you additionally...
Turn the countless 2D photos you have on your mobile phone and have never looked at again into great 3D photos that you will never look at again.
And if the real world becomes too bleak for you, immerse yourself in new fantastic games...

Dear developer
Develop great apps for Google, let's isolate everyone even more from their real environment with this technology. Collect even more data about users so that we can bombard them with even more customised consumer terror.

Does all this still make sense or are we simply being turned into totally dependent consumers?
Sure, there may be some great applications. But this smells a lot like version 2.0 according to George Orwell. I hope I'm just being too pessimistic. None of the sample demos convinced me.
We'll see where this leads. Perhaps there will be applications for remote diagnostics in medicine or applications for schools and teaching? Unfortunately, life is not just about travelling, expensive restaurants and games.

Let's stay curious.
