ANT+ hardware is built-in in most Sony Xperia devices and in many Samsung (activated after latest upgrade). Other devices accept ANT+ adapters. ANT+ is used primarily to enable communication of the device with external sensors mostly sports/fitness ie Heart rate, speed, power, cadence etc
