hi

i need to switch to a VPS. my shared hosting server is crashing. my apps make 50-60k request/day and around 10gb bandwidth/month and i already got twice in this month a warning that the request to server limit has reached and nothing on my server was reachable for few hours. i cannot count on a shared hosting and looking for a cheap but good VPS service.

i have some pc's at home i could use but i prefer to pay for a service to avoid taking care 24/7 my server is running.

I'm using Hetzner, have 7 VPS for last 11-12 years., very reliable, very cheap.
thanks, i already registered and waiting for my account verification.
what is the best setup? i am used to c-panel and i believe c-panel is not included. what about OS? Ubuntu?

i need to run several webapps, sql db, php, b4j server.

what package is the best for my needs? what would be the costs?

Hostinger is my choice.
There are a lot of tutorial and guides to help you install the app you need.
It is easy to login using Google account. It also has an AI chatbot.

KVM1 from £3.99/month + 1 year free domain
KVM2 from £5.59/month + 1 year free domain + 2 extra months

Hi Ilan:

Give a try to www.clouding.io
You can get 5€ present to test, with that you can run your VPS at last one and a half month (even more if you switch off while not testing)
You should register your credit card for this, but it's secure and you don't get any charge if you don't continue the service.

They have a lot of pre-instaled servers images you can setup and a lot of useful tutorials

I'm with them for more than 5 years. The technical service is awesome!! They are in Barcelona (Spain)

NVMe LXC "Sovereign"

6 vCores | 10240 MB RAM | 150 GB Storage

with extra: backup

about 15€/month

Is it daily auto backup?

With clouding I get a 0.5core, 1Gb RAM, 10Gb HDD. A daily backup (save 3 cycling days, you can setup to save more cycling days or more daily backups) You can save snapshots, clone servers, etc... You can have VPN between your own servers, Anti-DDoS, ...
Enough for some small webs and a MQTT broker.

At about 3€/months. Upgrade some of that options is not expensive

yeap, 3 snapshots (cycling 3 days) - but also I am making 7 days cycling backup with batch (debian) - (this is more specific mysql dbs, www, email accounts)
I mean, the daily backup is included or you need to pay as add-on?
Because for hostinger VPS, it only comes with 2 auto backups (7-days cycle) and 1 snapshot for free.
For daily backup, we need to pay extra US$3.50/month.

it is an add-on - but is in price of 15euros... either is about 12.5... the only bad.... is if you need to restore a backup, need to open ticket... you can not have access to see it the time you wanted... is someway bad... but they answer tickets into 12hr max, and they are very helpful.

Also they had discord...

I think for beginners, we don't need so powerful VPS with so many CPU and RAM.
I started with OpenVZ based VPS with just 1 CPU core and 1 GB RAM.
I am now using KVM based VPS with 1 CPU core and 4 GB RAM.
I think it still able to handle 10 to 20 B4J servers.
I have no experience with LXC based because it is not offered by hostinger.

well KVM is better... it is still a shared machine... but it has more power.... some saying that 1GB of KVM = 2GB of LXC and 1core are 2 cores...

Also you can install any image you want (this is the best option of kvm - you can see the "vps" the time of booting)
