I'm not posting to slate Apple, I've used their products for donkeys, and in most cases, they have been good products... But I've had my fill with them, just like the link, the *cough* super drive DVD-ROM in my iMac 2011 that I'd only used about 7 times, broke, and they fell silent, it was a major issue really (Literally thousands had the same problem, we were all ignored), a £1250 machine... Scandalous at the time that they wouldn't post a response.
I was out of my year warranty (At the time, the EU Directive regarding 2 years warranty as standard on any electrical equipment wasnt well known, and Apple wouldnt tell you that would they), so after ringing them, they suggested I drag the iMac 15 miles, through a shopping centre to get a replacement *cough* Super Drive, at a price that is. So, I did better then that... What I did was go out and buy a decent Windows PC, and if I've ever needed to replace anything, I could order the replacement, get it delivered to my door, and swap the defective part... Myself!
The iMac was retired.
So, with iPhones, iPads... I've had loads of these, and they've been good mostly, no reason not to use them over the years... But recently, these have went down hill, getting rid of ports only to replacement with adapters at a premiem cost, supply slow charging plugs and cables so you'll upgrade to fast chargers... At a cost, not realising that people may have more then one iDevice, but still only provide 5gig of iCloud storage, then nag for them to upgrade this storage when they run out... At a cost!
Everything now is "At a cost", even when you pay a fortune for a handset... You once got the premium treatment, now... Nah... Even their lowest priced handset in this generation is years out of date, but it isnt a low in comparison to others, its still "At a cost" with being inexcusably pap spec wise!
I've now even give up on Apple phones/tablets, literally, from someone who enjoyed their products over the years, they've turned their product line into a cash grab shambles... I look at iPhones now as I would a polystyrene brick... Meh!!!
Again, I didnt really want to start this as a slating, but, when I read that article, I cannot believe this is how a trillion dollar company STILL treats their customers... With walls of silence, not even a "We're looking into it" post!
Disgusting!
EDIT: Just found this in the official Apple forums...
Eeeeee, one complaint should be enough, especially when the unit is over a frigging thousand English pounds! :/

When I spoke with a supervisor yesterday at Applecare they stated to me that Apple is not going to do anything about yet because they don’t have enough complaints yet.
