Android Question B4A & B4R with ESP8266

I'm trying to get comfortable with esp8266 and I would like to understand how to communicate physically with android.
I tried ESP Configurator based on B4RSerializator and that's fine, but I would like to ask someone if it has a simple project where from my android I turn on and off a led and vice versa, with a button on esp8266 transmitted to android on or off.
Am I asking too much ?

If data is not a big quantity, you could use a DB like JRDC. It is an old tech we used on large systems many years ago. This can work on public network as well.
