Hello - I am not sure if this is the right place for this post, but I am looking for someone to walk me through the process of developing an app for an Android device. I am one of the millions now who are working from home due to the virus thing, and thought this would be a good time to learn something new. I have a very simple application in mind and would like to take this opportunity to make it happen. I could easily hire someone to write this for me, but that would defeat my overall objective, to learn something new. I have poured through the tutorials and I can't seem to find any that are pertinent to what I am trying to achieve. What I am interested in developing is a simple tool for an laboratory instrument that I use that uses an Android (4.2.2). My app is not a game or a fancy graphics thing or something that has anything to do with the Net nor am I interested in marketing it as the use is very limited. This is just a tool for me. Anyway, this instrument generates a simple text file of data and puts it on an external SD card. All I want my app to do is to be able to select that file, read it in, do a little number crunching, display a simple answer and then spit out the results in another text file located on the SD card. I have written an application for this in VB6, so I know exactly what I want to do, I would just like to have this run on the instrument itself.
So, to summarize, I am looking for someone to walk me through this so that I can learn B4A. I am not sure how the tutor process would work, so I am open for suggestions, and yes, I am willing to pay for the services. Thanks.
