I have B4J project, written prior to the release of B4X, now I would like modify it to include an editable B4X table.
The program is only for desktop use.
Do I need to rewrite the project for B4X?
... if not would it be better to rewrite it in B4X anyway?
Hi Graham,
you could plan a two-steps process.
Firs step is to substitute B4J-specific components with their B4X counterparts. It will take some time but you won't regret it.
Second step will be to port your newly created B4X-like project to the B4XPages paradigm. Even if the project will be intended for desktop only usage, this step will help to align your code structure to what is the strongly advised (and now dominant) project planning.
It could take almost no time for a B4X-based project to be converted to a B4XPages one.
Thanks gentlemen for your replies.
I had the feeling I should go for the B4X option.
Thanks for suggesting the best method and pointing me to the resources
Graham
Not sure what you mean with B4X... do you mean you want, in some point, make your app cross-platform?
You can use the B4Xtable "as-it" in your project. It's always a good idea to use cross platforms components, but it's not necessary to use B4Xtable
The project won't be cross platform, so I understand I can keep the project as B4J and use any B4X component.
I wanted an editable table and Erel's B4X table example fitted the bill.
I didn't think that B4J tablebview has that ?
