Other B4J on headless Pi3 in terminal window

I have a B4J app which controls a series of motors. The control is via a B4A app and bluetooth on a tablet.
I am still in the debug stage. Using bridge on both systems I can see the log as expected. Now I am one stage further and have the B4J app installed in the menu on the RPi. If I start the app, it will run in a terminal window and I can see the outputs without bridge. So far so good.

I need the B4J app to start at boot and have added it to rc.local. The only problem is that the terminal window is not visible, as the app seems to run in the background. How can I force a terminal window during boot?

In case the question "why" comes: I will be using the system in an environment where there is no chance to use my PC but I have a small HDMI monitor which I can plug in to check data etc.

Many thanks.
