Android Question Broadcastreciver - bi-directional

I have implemented a one-way broadcastreciever whereby App1 sends an intent to App2.
I would like App2 to acknowledge that the intent was received.
Can Broadcastreceiver both send and receive at the same time?
If so, can anyone describe how this might be done?
