Byte for small numbers

I don't think that you will see any difference. I would only consider using bytes instead of ints for large arrays.

EDIT: On the issue of responses it strikes me as more useful to leave your response when it is simple and straight like this one so that people can see your name as the (probably) last respondent. Generally I do prefer that the original poster would reply saying whether the solution or
suggestion worked. This case is a bit different as this is an open question.

I'm leaving the decision to you. I will not see it as an ignorance.
