Happy New Year 2025 Everyone!

Yesterday I have a thought come into my mind.
I would like to take up a challenge to create another new project this year.
It has been many years I refused to take up this challenge.
I gave myself a lot of excuses and concerns.
I fear of taking up big responsibility and end up being sued until bankruptcy.
Because it is related to user data privacy and monetary.
So I keep postponing to build an e-commerce app or integrate with Payment Gateway.

Then I think ultimately I will need to implement it one day.
Why not be bold and take the challenge?
After so many years, I hope things can be more easier or convenient these days compare to the then years.
With Stripe and B4J, I believe I can do it.

In our country it's quite common to have your future predicted by someone who calls himself a magician a wizard
And this is one of the very well-known magicians
(It's like a joke)

You think I am a joke?
Hi aeric, I think he's just saying that your idea is a good start for 2025, as predicted by the magician... so amorosik is happy with your idea

Probably some cultural diference or something lost in translation, but I don't think he's trying to offend.
Anyway, it's just my opinion.

Let's wait for him

Yes @aeric ....@josejad is correct I'm also sure no offence was meant by @amorosik .... there is just a way of saying something between friends which is not making fun of it but giving it encouragement while recognising that it's going to probably be a difficult one... Sometimes writing what is said aloud doesn't work .. But, I can also see how you are offended....there is an element of satire to the verbal exchange...which doesn't work well when written out.

So I keep postponing to build an e-commerce app or integrate with Payment Gateway.
I am wondering - or - I think, making the App and front end, and, even some of the backend won't be the problem.

I discovered when working with @0foraster0 last year that Stripe (one you mentioned in the other thread) isn't available in my country, and, that to receive payment through PayPal one has to register (PayPal) with a local deposit bank. All about foreign exchange control that.

So the biggest question with an e-commerce app would be finding 1. A universal payment gateway your company as the app vendor subscribes to; or, 2. Figuring out how a person who buys and implements your software registers a gateway - as developer - does that mean you would need to cater for that as a user "setup" function?

Obviously, this can be done, but, that seems like it's the tricky bit. 2 in my last paragraph is my guess what you would intend to do....

Anyway, I hope you have good luck with the project if you start it.

I hope @amorosik show a bit of courtesy.
Frankly, its not the first time I feel offended.
It happened back to the story of Ticketing Support System.
Another member also offended me on the same project but recently I have finally allowed him to purchase the project source code.
I treat amorosik as a friend. He is the third person purchase my project mentioned above.
Eventhough I have stated that I only provide the source code as it-is, I actually enhanced the project a lot based on his requirements. All that are provided without extra charge. I treat it as features update that bring more value to the project. While other members who purchased the project never ask me for any enhancement.
I am sincerely want to provide more values to the B4X community. I started projects that are not yet existed. This is to show the power and potential of B4X. I have put a lot of effort not only doing the development but also need to do a lot of study and research to make things easier for others, saving them time and money. I admire and respect what Erel has done for B4X and I hope I can do a small part. I listen to opinions and feedback. I grow in a multi racial country where we need to understand and respect culture of another race even though I am in a minority race which often treated unequal.
Just don't take things for granted. Sometimes it is just enough to say thanks. No need for adding other joke which only show you are not serious and sincere in giving someone compliment.
I always believe people who help me is come from their sincere heart when I need them the most.

You think I am a joke?

???
No, absolutely not
It was a funny way of saying "..thank goodness there is hope for some of my wishes.."
I believe that for every country in the world there are "idioms/sayings" that if translated literally do not convey the idea you want to communicate
Probably this case is one of those
I wanted to write something funny, for some it might seem like an offense

...I treat amorosik as a friend..
Yes, I hope you consider me a friend
For my part, it is certainly so

No need for adding other joke which only show you are not serious and sincere in giving someone compliment.
I do not agree with you on this
I believe that the wise man should laugh when he can
Life is already difficult in itself and taking a few moments of fun does not make a person less serious in his work and respectful towards other people
Anyway, I understand what you mean, and if you want I will avoid making other jokes in the future

Not sure how much people understand this as a joke. I will agree with you when I see at least couple of people responding with a laughing emoji.
For me I see no humour in it.
I hate when programmer is thought as a magician. We are certainly not. A solution is not produce overnight or in a few seconds like people seeing magic show.

I have never compared Aeric to a magician
What I wrote (or rather what I wanted to write) was that having consulted the magician of Naples, I had obtained predictions that were coming true

Please, guys, the conversation has become "personal". Some of us have said we thought there is a misunderstanding between different parts of the world.

I hope that you will find your way together again sooner than later, and, whatever bitterness can be turned into better in due course.

Let's just let this thread quietly drift on to the background.
