Checking for internet connectivity

Hello Fellows,

how can i check that an internet connection is present - primarily on the device - passively, beside any active approach that tests the connection by ping or udp/tcp connect...?

Depending on the settings, testing the connection may initiate to open a connection ( i.e. dial up), which i want to avoid especially on the device due to certain concerns like costs etc. ( the connection testing will consume some traffic over time = costs).

I'm sorry if that question has already been answered, my search was not successful.

regards,

Hi Erel,

thanks for the hint, however i wanted to keep my programme compatible with WM2003 as long as possible...

Due to your efforts for the Android stuff i am wondering if you continue B4P...? A function in B4P that can detect the network connection state would be nice...
