Compile to emulator and bridge fails

All of a sudden I am unable to compile to either the emulator or my tablet via b4a bridge. I tried re-starting the adb server multiple times but now get a message that "adbwinapi.dll" is missing from the computer. However i found it under platform tools. The message also said to re-install the program. I even tried doing that using the new v150 received earlier this month. I ignored the messages about certain files can't be deleted, thinking they should be there. Maybe I need to 'Uninstall' b4a and then re-install but don't want to do that until I have a response here. Incidentally the bridge is connected on the computer and the device. HELP!!

An update on the above. Still same problem even though I uninstalled and then re-installed. I moved stuff to another computer and can compile to my tablet but cannot get an emulator to work. The AVD manager does nothing and when I click emulator.exe, it just flashes and goes away. I did have the emulator running at one time on this computer (XP) but not now. This couldn't have come at a worse time for me. Hope the fix it simple.

Erel,

I re-installed the sdk but am unable to create a new avd. I deleted a couple of the folders in my 'users' directory because they were showing a red 'x' in the avd manager. However, there are still 2 left (emulators 1 and 2) but when I try to use one of them, the message says the folder is in the way and to 'force' overwrite. However, the applicable check box is grayed out (on the avd manager screen). How do I force an overwrite? If I try to create a NEW instance I get the message that it is unable to find a user data.img file to copy into the avd folder. There IS a userdata.img file in each of those 2 folders. At this point I am without an emulator on both of my computers. If I 'run' the avd manager from the ide and try to create a new one, the 'target' box is unavailable.

Incidentally, the avd manager never appears when I try to run it from the ide on the xp machine. And, as mentioned before, the emulator only flashes if I click the exe.

I am really quite stuck right now except for the device on the xp. I now see a "unable to find package java.lang in class path or boot class path" when I attempt to compile on the Win 7 computer. I'll reinstall the java stuff, also. Definitely not my day.

Erel,

Under control panel in the remove programs list, android sdk had a filled red circle with an 'x' in it. I guess that confirms your answer that it is broken How do I fix it? I'll try the installation again.

This was compiled on the xp computer where I am able to connect via bridge to the tablet. However, your point may be valid. I am going to re-install the sdk again on the w7 machine and report any interim messages that could be applicable. Thanks again.

Well, Andy. I got the w7 computer back now with a good installation of the sdk and java. It works as before (much relief). However, no matter which scenario I use with your code (I can now use the emulator) for the point protection, I still get a "unable to parse:boolean" message or it will not allow entry of a replacement number. When this line occurs: "if pointprotect, then return", it returns to that line after the msgbox (in the pointprotect sub) closes. How would it know what to do then? Sorry to be a pain.

Erel,

Third time was the charm. Seems like things are back to normal on the w7 computer. I will do the same on the xp and see if that solves the 'no emulator' issue.

Incidentally, did you ever look at the details I sent concerning b4a quitting to work at unexpected times. Sometimes it remains fine overnight if left on but others I may walk away for 15 minutes and come back to find the program crashed. There was a detail box from which I copied the info. It was not intuitive to me but you would probably understand it.

Thanks for the help and advice.
