Bug? Designer not prompting to save changed design (v4.40)?

I went into a project, started designer, deleted all views from the layout then clicked close. The designer closed without asking me if I wanted to save the changed design.

I don't recall 4.30 working that way?

This is by design. If the layout is identical to a new empty layout then it will not show the prompt.

It always behaved like this.

Yes. If it is identical to an empty layout then there will be no prompt.
