don't understand signing....

i've read the tutorial and still don't understand a bit more than i did before reading it... i imagine it is a pretty good explanation to those who already get it...

i was merrily going along developing my app and took a side trip into finding the apk and created a "private sign key".... since that point the android device i am using says "Application not installed" whenever i attempt to install it as i have done a thousand times before....

probably a simple answer to this but HOW do i just get back to where i can install the app i have been working on to my device?

i'd REALLY like to completely remove the signed status if that is possible in some way

i'm worried....

i am using the app i am writing to track health issues as i develop the app..... i hate to uninstall and COUNT on it going in flawlessly.... reconnecting to the SQLite db and all because IF it fails i am simply up the proverbial creek.... i suppose i need to go purchase another android device and try to move the db and get the whole thing working on the second device before risking the de-install on my primary device...

is there any way to get back to where i was or is starting this signing business irrevocable?

You can use the previous signing key. If it was the debug key then just choose Tools - Private Sign Key - Debug Key.

And if it's really necessary to test the new key, you could back your app + data up with Titanium Backup (requires root, though), then uninstall, then install the new signed version, and restore data (not app+data, just data).
