Android Question Don't Understand

At the end of my first and only question I received a message something about "don't post here "this is an old thread" or something like that. All I did was post a question I don't know what thread or anything else. Why is it so hard to post a question? How do you post a question? I am betting this will never be answered because all I did was click on start a new thread and that probably is wrong. Why if you one goes to a Forum the first screen isn't this one or a menu which says "See if your question is answered?" or "Enter a Question" or "See others questions or answers" and of course "don't to anything get out" Only that on the screen nothing else When I go into any Forum I am going there to get a question answered I do not care about a bell with a number attached (whatever that means) an envelope, my name (and it is not my whole name), I do not enjoy being called "C". I suppose that magnifying glass is a search, but search for what I do not know., I don't care how many posts (is anyone going to look at 2774 posts). When did the new posts start being counted, five minutes ago? an hour ago? months ago? years ago? All I need is a question answered and it has to do with B4X which as close as I can tell doesn't even have a forum!!! When I try to type in a tag I get an oops something went wrong!!!

Some tips or advice for you since you are new here.

First thing first, don't rush. Make yourself familiar first to this forum application that you feel stranger.
There are things you need to know, some can be ignored and some you have to follow.

Don't feel fobia of computer technology. This is a requirement for a programmer. Explore and it doesn't matter if you make mistakes at the beginning. Most of the time, it can be fixed or corrected.

The reasons you should not post to other member's thread are:
  1. It is that person's question. Even though, you are having the similar situation. It is highly not recommended.
  2. The person who started a thread can mark other replies as answer. He can edit the title to [solved] if it is done.
  3. If any member posting to the same thread after it has created a long time ago, it will make the thread clutter. It is harder for another member looking for the same question. He need to read pages of replies. Isn't you are feeling happy if you could find your answer of a question in the first few posts?
  4. The longer posts usually don't help. There are just further discussion and debate.
  5. The old post may no longer the best solution because B4X keep evolving. There may be some new or better ways to do the same thing compare to the past.
If you accidentally did, no issue with that. Just create a new thread. No one is going to penalize you.

Why is it so hard to post a question? How do you post a question?
It is not hard at all. Find the orange button on top left of forum index page.

But what I usually do is click inside that forum I want to ask a question.

Then start typing.

You are doing it correctly. Your question will be moderated and waiting for approval since you are a new member. To get your question appear instantly, you need to be a licensed member or donated for B4X development. To be a licensed member, you need to purchase a B4i license. If you don't want to use B4i then just make a donation.

Why if you one goes to a Forum the first screen isn't this one or a menu which says "See if your question is answered?" or "Enter a Question" or "See others questions or answers" and of course "don't to anything get out"
This is a public discussion forum, not a customer support ticketing system.
I don't get you by "don't get anything get out".
This is a community driven platform where other more experienced members can help to answer your question. They are doing it voluntarily. Respect everyone here because people spend time and share their knowledge here.

I do not care about a bell with a number attached (whatever that means) an envelope
The bell is a notification to new message sent by the forum system. It is probably a reply to one of your subscribed (watch) thread. This can be turned off in profile setting if you don't care but actually it is very useful.
The envelop is for private messaging with another member.
New members need to reach certain criteria threshold to post private message. Become a licensed member will unlock this feature.

my name (and it is not my whole name), I do not enjoy being called "C".
If you don't upload an avatar, you get your profile photo with your initial by default. Edit by uploading a new photo.

I suppose that magnifying glass is a search, but search for what I do not know
Yes, that is the forum search engine that you should use before posting a question.
It is use to search any question or article posted by other members.
If it returns matching results, read through them. If you can't find your answer after a few attempts then you can start posting a new thread.

I don't care how many posts (is anyone going to look at 2774 posts
Well, you can ignore it. You don't need to read all "New posts". You can mark all as read.

When did the new posts start being counted, five minutes ago? an hour ago? months ago? years ago?
New posts are the post you haven't read (unread). It may be probably 1 to 2 weeks ago.

All I need is a question answered and it has to do with B4X which as close as I can tell doesn't even have a forum!!!
Please be patient as your question will be seen as soon as possible.
If you have your email notification turned on, your email will pops up on your mobile phone if you have installed the email client app.

What do you mean by B4X has no forum?
This is the official B4X forum!

When I try to type in a tag I get an oops something went wrong!!!
Not sure about this. Maybe you use it wrong.

By the way, this question is more suitable to post in "forum discussion" forum. Before you making a new thread, make sure you find the correct forum.

"See if your question is answered?"

Alternately, you can check "Your questions"
1717403703557.png

In most cases, the bell icon is the place to check for new replies.

"Enter a Question" or "See others questions or answers"
If you are looking for existing questions, the forum search engine with magnifying glass is the right place.

If you want to check what question other members are asking, check the "New posts" button on top left of the forum index page.
