Android Question Drawing on panels - corners

If you draw using Canvas on panels, you lose the corners' radius.
Is there a way to avoid this (I fear... no ).

I would like to get what you can see here but with rounded corners.

I probably found an ("expensive") way to get around it: I can use two panels and draw, using transparent color, on the one in foreground.

Thank you, Steve, but I don't know how your routine (I have to study it ) could help me.
Anyway, adding another panel solves my problem.
