Android Question EditText size altered by soft keyboard opening

When my soft keyboard opens my edittext views change size! Is there a way to stop this happening?

Sorry for the delay in responding - was not able to get back to my project for a while. However, I found the problem and the solution in another post whe I did some more searching.

It is exactly what was happened and the solution worked!

However, I'm curious why this work around was needed. Can you explain?

Drawable instances should never be shared between views. Each view should have its own instance.
