Force Orientation

Is there any way to force orientation of the screen? I have HTC universal and when I swivel screen, orientation will change from landscape to portrait. I found that drawing in portrait mode is cca 10 times faster than in landscape. I'd like to force screen orientation to portrait regardless what device says.
