I was just thinking the same when i saw this topic today. My company is working %100 related to b4x tools and the money i am earning is %100 dependent on b4x tools. I truested Erel and Anywhere software and created a company here with lots of expenses. I fear the same that if one day Erel can not support b4x anyomre what would happen to us . There was a similar topic last year where Erel Replied stg like" There are some ongoing plans if he is not able to maintain b4x" . I hope he will be ok for years and we will be all together here but i cant stop thinking what happens if b4x can not be maintained =)

I dont understand your concern.
who guarantee you that mobile apps will be popular in 1-2 years?

for me its important that today everything works and i can make few $ from b4x and i also think you should always learn new stuff and not be dependent on anything or anyone.
take 1 day/week only for learning like JAVA, SWIFT, C++,.. you can maybe take courses. increase your knowledge!

use the fact that you are self employed and you have maybe more time for that then someone else.

I am just wondering what Erel would do with my customers after I die. They didn't ask me what to do after I cross to the other world but I am a little concerned about them.

Back in the Pascal/Delphi days most of my development was based on tools by TurboPower (I used to buy the source code versions to feel as independent as possible). When they were acquired by a larger company and directed to a new business they put all their tools in the open source domain. That was the best way to say thank you to all of the loyal customers.
Here we all believe that Erel is a very nice guy so we can easily trust that should he eventually loose interest in Anywhere Software he will find a way to preserve our commitment to B4x tools.

They will be popular because they are already popular and as long as the world continue to spin they will be popular because they are mostly finance apps running with ads. I am not creating games or save the date apps . I try to concentrate on apps which can go forever. So that concerns me =)

All of you are thinking of when you die: have you made a will in my favor? What are you waiting? Do it!

P.S. Perhaps Erel should add the inheritance

How about we made a cross will.. then I will do everything to die after you.

i was not talking about your apps. i meant all apps.
i just saw an article that says Apple is working on a smart glasses concept like google did but failed.
they say that the smartphone market has reached his limit and they are looking for something new.

so they try to make glasses where you wont need a smartphone anymore.
although i believe that if we wont make apps for smartphone we will make apps for smart glasses but my point is only that you cannot
count on anything or anybody. today b4x is available use it and make the best from it what tomorrow will bring us we never know.

In 5 years most of the people get bored of the "digital stuff". Like me always had the newest mobile phones, etc. We have Spotify, Netflix, etc. and I don't know what to see or what to listen for. It get's inflationary. And if the companies go too far with "tracking/sniffing" everybody the people turn arround.

yeah but to make a good app business you have to work hard and for now , i dont have any more time to spend on other programming languages or new concepts as i have newly started to earn something from this business . Anyway , I hope there won't be any problems God Bless Erel and all of us

I am not supposed to reveal this but, Erel resides on a secure set of flash drives. Several people around the world have nightly builds of the Erel flash drive and have sworn to protect them with their lives. Each drive is hardened against EMP and other disasters, and each can be activated in the case of an Erel failure of the current drive.

Relax, Delphi is still one of the most popular products in the world and it hasn't been available since 2010. It's replacement (Embarcadero) hiked the price to 100 times the original and killed a lot of the compatibility, but it is still delphi (and lazarus) at its heart. I am sure that Erel has make reasonable arrangements to ensure the future of B4X products. If he hasn't, there's always java

I am so unfortunate that I will live at least another hundred years

You better practice some cave life, because you will need to collect firewood to cook your food that you just hunted.

That's what they said about the Internet and now look where it is. (It's still here and ever evolving.)

Totally agree with everyone saying that you should not put all your eggs in one basket.

As a suggestion, this is your backup plan:
- Save all the .java generated files in ".\Objects\src\"
- Edit them with notepad
- compile them with eclipse

-> Good luck

I imagine the future where Microsoft's Holo Lens becomes affordable and very popular. Still, I hope Erel will write a wrapper for the new SDK so we can transition our apps to Holo Lens.

Personally, I use much more B4J than any of the other B4X. Because I use B4J, I am more afraid of Java stopping than Erel stopping. As an example, Javafx has been removed from the latest Java updates on Raspberry Pi if I remember well. Scene builder is not continued by oracle, and Java 9 is being delayed and delayed... Or one day, Microsoft could just not allow Java applications to run, because their have security issues, as Google did in Chrome.
I wish there would be an alternative to Javafx for the base of B4J.
