Hardware.dll: evOffACPower

I was recently using my PDA when it accidentally lost external power without my realising it. So I wondered if I could write a simple program to alert me in this circumstance.

The Hardware.dll with RunAppAtEvent citing evOffACPower seemed to be the right one but I cannot make it work. Testing shows my "Beeping.exe" running for timed events but not this one.

Does anyone know what "AC power" is meant to mean? Since portable devices do not accept AC directly I hoped it meant "external power" but perhaps not. Has anyone made this event occur? My PDA is a Pocket Loox N520 using WM5.1.19 and I think may be made by HTC.

Alternatively, is there another way of detecting loss of external power (apart from waiting for the battery to discharge!)?

Mike.
