How do I set Activity.AddMenuItem to give one column?

How do I format Activity.AddMenuItem for one column, it seems to give multiple, 2 or 3 without any reason.

The text I have is being cut off and I can't wrap it. & (CRLF)& Doesn't seem to work. Are their other formatting tools such as text size and color etc as well?

I want to format up the menu that appears when you click on the cell phone button, it shows up OK just not correct for the layout.

It would be great if it could look like the PreferenceActivity

I would love to have each activitymenu entry set up with two lines, one larger like a title like

Sort by Location Ascending, Buy Descending
Use this to sort by supermarket isles

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think you have much control of how it organizes or displays menus. From what I can tell, it pretty much depends on the activity width and how many menu items you are trying to add.

As such, I wrote some code to detect the width and then add menu items in such an order that they look organized when viewed on that device.

The sample below may be kind of hard to follow.... this wasn't meant to be instructional; it is taken directly from my app. Mostly pay attention to the order I add the menu items. This is where I discovered that items I wanted to be somewhat "grouped" did not appear correctly on certain devices.

The odd thing is that the items under MORE are almost exactly what I want, large font single column. Yet the first screen is 2 columns small font.

You can't control the menu layout. Android allows up to six menu items with icons. Any more than six overflow to the "More" list which displays text without icons.
