It might work if you set the targetSdkVersion to 23. On newer versions your app needs to be set as the default messaging app.
Oh no I dont test targetSdkVersiondid you try what erel suggested? did you set the targetsdk as suggested?
the message "old tutorial ..., etc" applies to newer devices and recent targetsdk and for google play.
if the app is for your use, do as erel suggests.
