Android Question how to... with Android Notifications 4.3+

hi guys,
I have always wanted to build an app... that can list/collect all the notifications in my status bar ... BUT i was told it cant be done..

Now is it true... with 4.3 or 4.4... we can programmatically get the list of notifications at a given moment?

for eg.
if i get 2sms... 3 missed calls... 1fb message...

can i retrieve that list and show it in my app??? in the Newer android versions??

hey thanx Barx... seems cool... now all i need is a android 4.3phone to try my stuff...

Just asking.. after seeing the code..
the 5 notifications were added by the app itself... and the code via the service retrieves them..

... But does it get me the list of Notifications for apps outside my service program that are posting Notifications? eg... sms... missed call ... FB... whatsapp etc?

Im asking cz im still to get a phone with 4.3 to try stuff on... not sure when will that be!!

I've not played with it myself yet but I believe that is the way it works.
