Android Question HTC One M8

Can B4X actually run on a HTC One M8?
If so what are the steps? - I have spent all day following "just do this" guides, none of which actually work.

I don't know about an HTC One M8, but I have two HTC One S phones. These predate the M8 by two years. They are running Android version 4.1.1 and HTC SDK API level 4.63. I use the HTC phones as "semi-disposable" phones when doing jobs around the house and garden. One in particular I use with an MP3 player app that I wrote myself - I updated the app just a couple of days ago. In fact it was the first app that I worked on after updating B4A to Release 12.5. I cannot see any reason that there would be problems with an HTC One M8.

If so what are the steps?

I installed B4X on my PC (several years ago) and B4A Bridge on my 'phones. No special steps were required. All my phones work - HTC Ones and Pixel models among them. I know that this is not a very helpful answer, but ask again if you have a more specific question that I can help with. (I have also replied to your other post about connection problems).

Just as a point of general interest : The batteries in both my HTC phones (2012 vintage) hold their charge perfectly. They have outlasted several newer phones, including my older Pixel.

Thank you so much for this, very much appreciated, despite your reservations it is very helpful. At least it means I am not banging my head on a brick wall because my phone is obsolete.
I still cant connect but your post means that I will persevere.

I have two HTC One M8's which I am hoping to use as model railway controllers. Your post that says you have good connections on even older phones means that I am recharged to find the actual problem rather than saying it must be my old phones.

Once again thank you for your interest, and to be bothered to reply.

Re Your batteries - my new phone is apple and (even ignoring the flimsy charging cables) the battery is no where near as good as as the old HTC. I need a new apple battery about every 18 months, whereas the HTC's (both bought second hand a long time ago) are still showing very good battery levels on their original batteries.
