Android Question Improving radio button indicator visibility

Please see attached screenshot.
I am trying to use radio buttons on a white background but the actual circle indicator is almost invisible unless I make the View background black which looks terrible against a white background.

I have tried all the options I can think of. Is there a way to make the radio button indicator stand out more against the white background so people can see that the item is actually a radio button and not just a label?

Or should I look at making my own radio buttons out of buttons and labels using some sort of images that will stand out?
