Android Question Inventory Items scanning - need best barcode reader code

Hi all,
I've read about all the forum posts about scanning or reading barcodes.
Since there are quite a few posts, I'm wondering which code set is the best for my situation.

Currently, the company locations are using my Inventory Scan app (built several years ago in B4A) to read barcodes with a Honeywell model:1900 hand-held scanner attached to the tablet. It is working well as it is. The app is running on a few different manufacturers 7inch tablets, with older Android versions.

But I was thinking to untether the hand-held and have the app use the camera to scan the barcodes. This change would have to be just as fast or faster than the hand-held approach.

Speed and accuracy together for scanning is the essence here.

Can anyone point me to a post that can help me with this?

Yes, I saw that as a top-of-the-list pick.

I haven't downloaded any demo as yet, wanting to get feedback on what ppl think is a better solution.

Hopefully, from folk who have used one of these solutions and know how it works.
It will have to work on older Android versions, as that is the hardware that is being used. I don't think there is budget to upgrade to newer tablets.
