Other Java Android developers are...

You can find many free Java projects with source code, I think less than here; even worse: here those free projects are "translated" and sold.

I know this thread will not be welcomed but this is what I feel and have to say.

Here too are free source codes. For example, on snippets of code.
Sometimes someone does not want to publish code thinking that others can steal his genius. But in fact we developers grow because we learn from others code and others learn from ours.

Then Java developers acquire the mindset of sharing because it is part of the same language. It is transportable, cross-platform and shareable, and Java developers acquire the ability to share.

That someone copies your code or creates one like this has always been the case regardless of whether or not the source is shared. Usually someone who copies another's source is unsuccessful. The original is the first and is best known. Others are able to improve the code so that they are more successful than the original. The latter's success has earned it, added what it takes to give a boost to the code .. it deserves.

Then I think who Java is more silly than who uses B4A, because it could write the same applications in less time using B4A

So you want emotion....

This is just my personal opinion, and I respect all points of view:
  • I think there are big contributors here who share things. Ok, they are not many but they are very active. I am refering to @DonManfred and @Johan Schoeman mainly, but also others.
  • The concept of sharing: for me, sharing does not only mean libraries, but also knowledge. If people were so mean, there wouldn't be so many answers to all kind of problems. Also, what about the guides (@klaus) and tutorials (many others)? They are here for free and there is a big effort behind. So people here are generous.
  • Most important, everyone is free to do whatever he/she wants with his work, even if it is a wrapper, assuming that it is not against what the original license says. Sometimes writing a wrapper takes a lot of effort. In my case I spent several weeks and even have donated more than what I have received for it to a friend who helped me a lot to clear some things that I didn't understand. Why? Because the benefit is not always money. I have another big library, this time written entirely by me from scratch, and perhaps one day I will make it chargeable, o not.
  • We tend to think that, as many things are free, everything has to be free. I don't agree at all with that
(edit: perhaps this thread would be more suitable for Chit Chat, no?)

Yes but less "visible".

As you know in the "Java Android" world exists Stackoverflow; this is a different question.

If (Number of java developers sharing code/Total number of Java developers) > (Number of B4A developers sharing code/Total number of B4A developers) then there would be a point. But I guess one would first have to figure out what the averages are and then one could make a more qualified statement about who is more generous in sharing code.
