Does this mean we now need to learn a total different language, I mean i'm somewhat familiar with C++ which personally i think has some similarities with Java, but will this affect in anyway B4A positively or negative, thoughts?

JAL (just another language). I don't think this will affect anything. I remember when JAVA was declared as "bad" and .net, c# and asp.net was hyped. Now my company calls it "old" and everyone hypes Java. Next year there will be xxx or Kotlin and so on.

I don't think this will change anything for B4x in the next years.

I am sure that Java will still be the leading language for Android Development - I don't think this will change.
Kotlin and Java are similar and both languages can be used in the same project.

However, if many new libraries will be written in Kotlin instead of in Java, I guess it might become a bit trickier with the wrapping of said libs. I gues we will have to wait and see..
