Menu button to flash through programming ?

I was wondering: is it possible to get hardware
menu button to flash through programming?
I would like to make a program where the menu button blinked if, for instance, I got an SMS while the phone was locked.

I don't think that there is a standard API for that. Most devices do not have a hardware menu button.

I was looking for the same thing.
Is there still no possibility to create a 'blink button when needed' program?
My device has two 'touchbuttons' with white led behind them ('menu' and 'return')

Usually these buttons blink when a notification is added.
