Very interesting. I wouldn't have thought so. I would have expected a huge increase in BASIC in the mid-80s (C64 and ATARI, everyone had one of those things at home, but probably only played on them). PASCAL started very early and lasted a little too long for my liking. The meteoric rise of JAVA is striking.
Well, it would be interesting to know which sources underlie the wonderfully lively graphics...
But the secret winner for me is actually FORTRAN. At least for the last century. In the top 5 for 40 years - respect! A great programming language.

The meteoric rise of JAVA is striking.
Am i correct in remembering hearing that a bunch of devices in, for instance, motor cars, started to be programmed in JAVA?
