My bank is a pain

My banking app stopped working on my phone on Monday. Restarted phone etc.
Rang them Wednesday as still not working. IT problems, give it a couple of days they said.

Rang again today as still not working. (Actually got someone sensible) It's because your Android version is too old they said, new security needs latest Android..

Ordered new phone.

Two things they could have done
1) Put on website the need for latest Android OS (or minimum required).
2) Put message in App (it starts with security message) - Simple to add "if you can't dismiss this message, your OS is too old"

What a pain.

Ah! A pet hate - lots lots lots of places (called Big Business) have people whose brief is to implement rules that do (say, accounting correctly) and the pressures are on them to do just That - nothing in their specifications or interests of the "corporation " says Anything about the users and the end functionality - that's too much code and costs profit. ((Had a couple of good friends who had jobs exactly like that)).

Ordered new phone.
Oh, and, just a question - a young friend of mine would ditch the older Android, download a later version and "flash" the one in hand - was that an option for you at all?
