Android Question need help - static message on & off

hello

is there a way to show a top most message with no buttons,
do some work in the background
and when done close / remove the message
sort of a wait message...
if yes - will appreciate a short sample or guide

that worked
but this is not a top most so if the user touches the screen he would go to the background form
i would like to prevent this and make him wait until the background process ends
something lihe form.enabled=false or make the dialog top most
