iOS Question new to B4i

I am starting to port my B4A app to B4i - I have no experience with Apple products.

question 1 - can I use a used MacBook Pro with iOS 10.9 for compiling? (about 10 years old - 2.4GHz, Intel i5, 4GB RAM, 320GB SuperDrive)
question 2 - can I use a used unlocked iPhone 6S, 32GB, iOS 9, for testing? (from Amazon)

question 1 - You don't need a mac at all, the hosted builder service can be used, i'd recommend using it when starting out.
If you really want to use a mac then it should support XCode 11 now. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode_release_notes/xcode_11_release_notes?language=objc

question 2 - Yes, but I would get an iPhone 8 instead. see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_iOS_devices#In_production_and_supported. The phone doesn't have to be unlocked or even have a sim card in it for most purposes.

1) You need a Mac running Mojave 10.14.4 or later to run Xcode 11 (which will be a requirement for apps submitted to App Store from April).

2) If you're doing local builds on a Mac, then an iPhone 6S will be fine for real device testing, because you can use Xcode simulators to cover all the device/OS version connotations. I use Xcode 11 (I develop iOS apps in Swift) & have an iPad Mini (1st Gen), iPhone 4S & iPhone 5S for hardware testing & use the Xcode simulators for everything else & have found this to be fine.
