.. today NYC robbed me off.. $245.00 (two hundred and forty five Dollars for nothing.
I was driving in Brooklyn, up 3rd Ave towards Atlantic Ave. then made a right on Dean Street. (one way) and parked
on the right side of the road. there's no sign whatsoever saying no parking or anything, so far so good..
When I came back I found my car towed away by police.. why? because after I stopped, I was supposed to walk along Dean Street
for 50 meters (towards 4th. Ave or same direction of the one-way road) to see if parking is allowed or not.. but I parked and then walked back to 3rd Ave. Please see the attached map..
in all states there are (No Stop Between 2 Signs).. but here it was only one sign in the middle of the road and you must walk to it, then
assume the other limit is the beginning of the road from 3rd Ave.. I hope guys we are all following this.. I was with a lawyer for something and he told me this is a clear deception. I took a taxi to Navy Yard to redeem the car and taxi driver told me this know across the city and all New Yorkers are victimized by this illegal practice. I had no choice and paid $185 for the towing and got a ticket
for $60 for illegal parking.. they count on people would not take the hassle of filing complaints and follow court dates just for a couple hundred of Dollars.. but I will take it to social media and will take my right by exposing this ugly and deceptive practice of a big and International city like New York. I mail them the $60 and write on the check note something that will make them smile.

You need to be a rocket scientist just to park your car in NY. (Someone wrote 'good luck')

At least you have laws that are enforced. In my country everybody parks where he wants, police only fines 1 / 100 of them. etc etc..

Here in France, we have streets where from 1st to 15th of the month we park on the right side and from 16th to 31st on the left... Day 1 and 16 always has a couple of "I forgot to change side" parked cars... Most time, police is patient as long as no major road blockage is created... BUT, in some areas, a car parked for more than 2 days is automatically picked up...
It's good to have laws and to have who enforces them, but they should also be civilized laws!
Some time ago I read about a biker that got pulled over by a cop in a highway because of speeding. He tried to explain that he just got out of a highway service station and that between the station and where they were, he didn't see any speed limiting signs... Apparently there was one, after the entry point to the service station, and before the exit of it... So anyone stopping at this service station would never see it... He still had to pay it thou....

In NY the traffic signs are carefully designed and posted specifically to deceive motorists so they must pay money to the city. This is institutional deception.
Everyone in the city knows this.

I liked the "M-S" vs "Sun" signs.
At first I read it as:
M-S = Monday to Sunday (or was it Mostly Sunny?)
Sun = Sunny day
:D

dont forget to tell us how it ends @Beja. i think you are right and this is really ugly what they did. in my country you have 2 sign in the beginning and on the end of the road. same also in austria. so this is not correct!

and don't forget
On Anger Resume Next
this is your signature :)

Hi Ilan and thanks for the thoughtful comments.. it ended up by me paying the tickets and the towing.. poor me!
in all cities I visited there are two clearly posted signs.. but in The City, traffic signs are deliberately crafted to trap drivers.
The city wants money by all means..
Yes I was very angry but later resumed next! but this transcends me to public rights and officials' practices to hurt people
and loot their money.. therefore I feel myself obligated to advocate for all drivers just by exposing such deceptive practices.
I don't want to file complaints or anything.. let them buy a new car with my money : )

If you can reach your car BEFORE they tow - then are you allowed to drive away without a Ticket?

I stayed 10 years in America but didn't drive much.

believe it or not, if you arrived before even they hooks it to the towing truck, still you must pay not only the violation tickets but the $185 for
the towing truck too.. ah.. how dare you, causing the truck driver all the hassle and hardships to come where your car is!!!!!
Forget about rationality and justice. it can only be described as Armed Robbery.

Unbelievable!

Is there any way to monitor Towtruck Radios? Like a Police Scanner?

Then you can know if your License Plate is called in.

Thanks Rockefeller for your solidarity :).. and I guarantee they wouldn't get a penny from me again.
The problem is, when you have super rich people in the city in Wall Street, who would park anywhere and don't mind paying a thousand dollars, as long as they are not missing important meeting about a deal worth 100 Million Dollars.

Yeah, Wall Street peeps be rollin' in the Deutschmarks man.

Pushing money here and there - but doing no real work. Then party with drugs, sex, alcohol, gambling - the WHOLE WORKS.

Sense gratification to the maximum - then the EMPTINESS inside again - and the cycle repeats.
