Not a valid .APK file

The diagnostics on the Developer Console are pretty poor - can any one suggest what would cause the above message to appear when the .APK in question actually works fine. Presumably it's 'illegal' in some way or other, but there's nothing to suggest how!

If you are getting that message when you upload your app to the Android Market it means there's something wrong with Google, I've got that message myself a few times, I just report it to Google and they take care of it.

I did wonder about that; there do seem to have been a couple of glitches there recently! Thanks and have a good w/e!
