Android Question Notifications similar to messenger

Hi All,

I have an app using firebase messaging and when the message is received the app fires up ok. However it temds to pop up over the top of whatever a user is doing. Is there a way to have a little floating icon pop up similar to the messenger icon?

Thanks very much for the reply Cableguy, it was just what I was looking for. I cannot beleive i missed it in my earlier searches
