What's the best method to navigate to any file on my device then be able to open specific files.

Have you tried to USE the forumsearech? NO

There are Classes to search for any file/folder even with wildcard.
Use one and get all files and show only the files or folder you want.

I dont like to help you more on this.

You cannot list files from one drive directly on your device.

You need to use a lib to do.

contentChooser can not be set to use only specific folders or filetypes.
You need to build your own File-Exlorer
