Hi Guys

Sorry to post this here, but since it is not related to "normal" programing, I thought this would be the best next place to this...

I have an apk file, that I got through a friend... It works just fine, but the "shortcut" name is not the one of the app it self...
So, using my very limited skills and knowleage, I extrated the manifest file from the apk, and tracked down the "shortcut" name value...changed it...and re-copied it to the apk...I did all this in 7-zip...

When I try to install the "new" apk, I get a "error parsing file" message...
I guess this has something to due with the ZipAlign...so my question is, Can I unzip-align and re-zip-align an apk?

Not sure, but dont you also have to sign it?

From what I can understand, the signing is done prior to the zip align, so it should'nt be affected by it...

You will need to resign the apk file. This is exactly the purpose of signing. To make sure that the APK file was not modified afterwards.

Ok, Thanks....I must ask though, is the signing key "visible" within the apk?

You can sign the APK with your own key, uninstall the previous application and install the new one.
