PC Desktop monitor recommendation?

Among other things, a monitor is up for replacement as I refresh my outdated developer hardware.

From what I've seen so far, UltraWide monitors are popular with developers because you can systematically arrange the many windows as an organized workspace.

So, I chose the "Lenovo G34w" because it seems to have a good price/performance ratio.

I would be interested in your experience regarding the following aspects.

a) Resolution 3.440 x 1.440 Pixel
Is this sufficient for common "fullstack development" work?

b) Curved monitor
Is this useful, or will a flat screen do?

c) WQHD monitor
Is this a quality feature that is crucial for productivity?

Of course it's a question of price and of course one could go on about hundreds of details...

What is your experience - what would be the most important thing in the purchase decision?

i had for a long time 3 monitors for my b4x coding. 1x 24", 1x 21,5", 1x 15,6" (notebook)
then i decided to upgrade to a widescreen but i did a mistake. i bought an lg 29" widescreen monitor and also flat.
so now i have 2 monitors 1x 29", 1x 21.5". the notebook monitor is now not in use. i can say that i regret not buying a bigger monitor and also curved.

if i would now buy a monitor it would be 49" curved and i would use only 1 monitor divided into 3 sections.

something like this:

so if you go for a big ultrawide monitor then make sure it is curved!

I wouldn't say I find it essential. My monitor isn't curved and I have no problem with that. Your mileage may vary.

if it is a big widescreen then it should be curved. i would say from 32" and up you should consider buying a curved screen.
another option is to buy 3 small monitors like 3x 21.5" and rotate a little bit the left and right monitor.

i think 3 monitors are optimal for coding. 1 screen for the layout designer, 1 screen for the ide, and 1 for other stuff.
the second option should also be much cheaper than buying a big 49" curved monitor.

when you code do you have lots of windows open? how many monitors did you have until today for your coding?

btw the monitor you are considering buying Lenovo G34w is a good choice if 2 monitors are normally enough for you.
and the price is also very good 399$. I wish we would have such prices in Israel. the same monitor here cost around 2200 shekel = 682$

everything here is so expensive. soon we will need to pay for oxygen ?

Hello Communnity,

I use
- 1x27" 4K (matt)
- 1x27" 2k (matt)

I am not sure if I feel comfortable with a larger screen.
Also I am gambling so a 2nd monitor is good for discord or checking something.
Additionally notebook is not used during development except testing some stuff.

Well I was working with 2, 3 monitors (21 inch 16:9, 21inch 16:9 and 19 inch 4:3)... but it was very tedious...

so decide to work with one 22" inch Samsung at start and was TFT (not led) was perfect! for programming... but for Graphics / Photoshop - video editing / 3D animating was so... small desktop...

I ve upgrade to 24" (LG, IPS, LED)... well the desktop seems to be bigger now - so it is easier for other apps too (graphic design)...
but the LED is killing me !!!!!!!

I want my old TFT BACK!!!!!!!!! was not 1920x1080... but was better for my eyes...

I have to say that LG not costing more than 140€ before 1 year... but it is better to have about 27" inch 4K with low brightness... and may be is better to look for something like OLED...

...today if my wallet had 2K euros more.. i should buy Asus Designo Curve MX38VC

ps: +First Test it for more than 30minutes... before buying

no, its always clean like this. i like a clean working area. this helps me concentrate when coding.

i would not say that.

erel has a huge effect on the progress i made (and lot of other b4x developers) BUT without hard work i would not reach the point i am today. for example it is 2 am right now when i write this post and i just finished working on a b4x project and now i go to sleep (getting up at 4:20 am) so really though.

without a strong desire you wont get far!

anyway:

Laptop: about 5500 shekel (HP OMEN)
3 monitors: about 2200 shekel
desk: around 800 shekel
x-box: 1000 shekel
ipad: 1300 shekel
mac mini: 3600 shekel
printer: 500 shekel

so around 15k shekel = 5k $
+ b4a/b4i licenses (i was one of the first buying b4i license and every year updated b4a & b4i to support erel until b4a become free )

so put another 1k$ so i spent around 5k-6k$ on b4x equipment for the last 9 years i am here. not to much i guess.

i can tell you that it was worth every penny!!!
