Pedometer Application

Is there a way do develop an application that uses the phone's built in Accelerometer to record physical activity?

I found this thread on XDA-developers; gsensor.dll pleas - xda-developers.
I remember reading about a gsensor library recently

There is a library by Agraham : http://www.b4x.com/forum/additional-libraries/3237-htcsensors-library-htc-diamond.html#post18032

but writing the application that use the sensor's output is up to you.
