"Please start a new thread for this question"!

All,

Now and then everyone of us sees this request by Erel, and that's fine!
But sometimes other people becomes interested in the new question and the discussion that follow, but because the person who posted and then moved it to a new thread doesn't leave any trace so others can
follow him/her, it will be hard for them to find the new thread.
My suggest is for anyone who moves a question to a new post, please leave a link to that post.

I'm good with fuether discussions in a thread. For me it's sometimes too strict. New members have it hard as they often simply don't know how to ask and what the specific term of the topic is. E.g. firebase messaging. There are a lot of mistakes one can do. Hard to point out, what the problem really is. Then someone writes "please open a new thread".

May be the ideal solution is to add a (Brach Out) button, along with the Bookmark, Like and Reply links. This will take the author or current post to go directly to a new topic page (new post).. also will allow others who are interested to press the same button.. they will be taken to the new post (if there's any) otherwise the button has no effect.

It is extremely important that each question will be posted in a new thread.

1. It makes the thread structure clear. The first post is the question and it is followed by suggestions and answers.
2. Similar to malloc for the C developers, it gives the poster a place to discuss his question. Nothing else will be discussed in that thread and no one will interfere with other unrelated or related questions.
3. Questions and answers written deep inside a thread should be considered lost knowledge. No one will ever find them with the search feature. They don't have a title and the context is not clear.
4. One of the reasons of StackOverflow being so successful is its clear structure. While the forum doesn't try to be a SO clone it is good to learn from the most successful programming Q&A site.
5. Nothing bad happens when someone posts a question in the wrong place.
6. Last but not least, it is the policy in this specific forum.

This is a good example of why this policy is important.

I agree that it can be good practice to post a link to the new thread. I don't think that it will ever happen as it is mostly newcomers who post in the wrong place and I don't expect them to be aware of all the nuances.

Yup!.. That's the point. I withdraw my suggestion to start branches.
