Question about Widgets

I have noticed that if an app contains code for a Widget it cannot be installed on the SD Card, even if you specify that on the project, if you modify the XML manually it can be done but it seems it makes your device unstable, if you move the app from the SD to phone or viceversa the widget doesn't appear on the widget list and some other widgets crash.

Is that because a widget it's a service and services MUST reside on local memory?, can someone enlight me please?

No. It is not related to services.

It is a restriction of widgets. A widget application is expected to always be available. This is not the case with applications installed on the SD card.
