I would like to write an app that can help me organize and classify my messages. For now I only find examples about sending messages but I can't find anything about read or encrypting the messages. Anyone knows the way?

The messages send by Whatsapp are encrypted by whatsapp before sending/decrypted when receiving.

notification listener is not helpful because it doesn't read the whole conversation (i.e. excluding those which are sent out and those which are received when the WhatsApp is on)

Whatsapp does not provide a Api.
You can only use what is available. Here the notificationlistener.
I never saw any code which accesses the local datastore-Database and decrypt anything.
