Android Question Roboto font as default, why not?

Hi,

In the design guidelines Roboto is used a lot and i'm wondering why you don't support this out of the box in the designer?

In the new Android L there is a new version and apps look great.

In B4A we need to define a new typeface and assign it to all views which is a lot of work and pretty inconvenient.

Would it be hard to support Roboto in a new version of B4A?

The manufacturer might have added its own font to the device, or, a different version of Roboto, there are several: Thin, Regular, Light, Medium etc.

Fonts are not included in the apk. If a device for eg. Nexus 5 has roboto set as the default font it will be used. I think this is a manufacturer issue.

You don't need to specify the font. If Roboto is the system default font then it will be used in all views.

Stock Android will be default in the future (betting on that). Anyway, would like to use Roboto but setting it through code feels like a lot of work. Because most Androids will support Roboto in the future I think it would be "nice to have".

How are you setting it in your code?

I'm populating all views and attach the correct typeface. There is a probably a better way to do it, did not find time to investigate that.
