runtime error

When running this code I get: "cursor not initialized" ERROR.

I just noticed another error which is probably primary to the Cursor error.
"Unable to open database file".

so what is wrong with my database ?

any ideas ?

This line will always return false as Cursor.IsInitialized returns true or false.
Actually you do not need to check whether it is initialized or not, as you are assigning a new cursor to this variable on the next line.

I do not know what is the problem with the database file. If you like you can upload it and we can test it.

In your code you copy the DB from DirAssets to DirInternal if it doesn't already exist there.
Then you try to load the DB from DirDefaultExternal, why ?
It's normal that the program is "Unable to open database file", because there is no DB in DirDefaultExternal.

I can't figure out where the problem is. At this moment this code throws an error message from MsgBox.
are there any extra libraries other than SQL required for this to run ?

You have the line:

I do feel that you are trying to run before learning to walk (an old English saying).

You need to slow down a bit, and listen to the advice given. If you do not understand what you are being told just say so, we all had to go through a learning process so we DO understand.

PS the line
B4X: 
ListView1.Initialize("ListView1")
needs removing, as you should not initialize a view that was created with designer and loaded as part of a layout.

I search in HELP for Cursor.Initialize returns nothing. In WIKI there is nothing as well.
I can only find SQL.Initialize I don't know if it is the same thing ?
No keyword, no examples.

I thought this line:

SQL1.Initialize(File.DirDefaultExternal, "jcont.db", False)

initializes Cursor ?

Attached you find your project working.
- It reads the DB.
- You can use it in both orientations, with ONE layout file, but two layout variants in it.

Attached two images that show the result.
Tested with the Emulator.

You tried to work in landscape mode, but in your project you set the property Portrait only !?

I removed following lines which are not not necessary.
- ListView1.Initialize("ListView1")
- If Cursor1.IsInitialized = 1 Then / End If
- Activity.AddView(ListView1, 0, 0, 100%x, 100%y)

Just as a reminder, also for other users in this forum, the best way to get a concrete answer is to post the whole project or at least a smaller project that shows the problem. Because we can try it.

Klaus - I dod not change anything. I simply d-loaded the file, unzipped it, and compiled it.

After your suggestion and replacing the line to copy to the new file, I still get an error (see image). I ZIPed the project and attached to this message mCont3.zip).
