Samsung SM-T500 - why do they do this stuff

I purchased a Samsung SM-T500 (needed a device running Android 10) and Sams Club had a GR8 deal on these.

The screen blacking (I believe the screen is square - but the blacking has rounded corners) rounded corners chops off full screen images

I guess they wanted to make the display look like the outer case with round corners.

Anyway, this device is great especially for the price (I paid $149.99 delivered to the house).

The thing I don't like is that the bottom row (Menu, Home, Back) buttons are virtual and in some apps disappear (Googles PDF Viewer for one)
If I am going to give up that much screen space for 3 buttons - then why not make them real buttons (surely enough room around the edges) and make that screen that real size.

Happy New Year to EVERYONE - And may next year be better for ALL so we can get out of our houses.

But ANY app that is running full screen gets cut off at the corners.

Now this screen doesn't need full screen (but to maintain a look they all are).
I have some screens that are trying to display a lot and on phones I need every pixel I can get.

Just don't understand why a designer would do this knowing it would change the appearance of APPs running full screen (I guess the answer is they didn't realize it??)

Nope. It's a Common thing.....they're programmers not designers. You may remember a thread in which I talked about going back to Samsung phones. Well these phones have a number of foibles I had forgotten about .... you are not alone.

But, never mind you have B4X so you can write a new APP to replace theirs and all will Be happy again.....like /maybe/ new year.
