Hi all, just wanted to share this real quick, I am finally able to publicly speak about what I have been working on for the past 2 years at Snapchat Inc. These new AR Glasses are now officially released.
The reason I am posting this is to give everyone a small peek into what the future of AR may look like in a few years.
As many of you may know, there is a lot of interest and resources being spent on this type of technology, including Meta, Apple, Google and a few other smaller companies. Snapchat has just released their 5th generation of Spectacles which in my opinion are a huge advance towards this type of devices, the main advantage of these AR glasses is that they are self contained, they do not need to be tethered by a cable to your cell phone like it's the case of Apple's Vision Pro or Meta's Quest device, in addition these AR glasses are also way smaller and bulkier than the Vision Pro and Meta's Quest.
At the moment developers are able to create AR Lenses (Applications) using Snap's Studio Lens but the plan is to allow Developers and content Creators to have access more access to the hardware such as RGB Cameras and Hand Tracking Cameras, please check out the video below to get a better idea at what is capable of doing with these devices.
